Minecraft Creeper Rice Krispy Treats

I just made some of the best Minecraft Creeper Rice Krispy Treats for my daughter’s school class party!  All the kids went crazy for them!  Here’s the best part… they are surprisingly easy to make.  I’m the type that typically has put a lot of time into a homemade cake or treat for a special birthday but this year my time is tough.  I think that’s lots of Moms now a days too.  So I decided to share an easy recipe just for you.

The Minecraft Creeper Rice Krispy Treats recipe can be really simple or part homemade.  Since time was an issue for me I ended up buying all the pre-made ingredients and just putting the Minecraft Creeper Faces together.  Yes, they sell Rice Krispy Treats by sheets (look here)!  But, if you have more time you could easily save some cash and make the rice crispy treats yourself.  I’m pretty sure we all have made these at one time or another.

I even purchased the pre-made butter cream frosting and the fondant too!  I ended up using a rolling pin to create a very thin layer of fondant and cookie cutters to cut out he shapes I needed.  I did the fondant really thin so the treat wouldn’t be too sugary.  I also spread on a very thin layer of butter cream frosting to adhere the fondant to the rice crispy treat.

Cute, right?!  I know the kids thought so.  I immediately had many requests from students asking if I could make them some on their birthday.  Minecraft is crazy popular with these youngsters right now!

Here are the ingredients I needed to make Minecraft Creeper Rice Krispy Treats:

Directions to make the Minecraft Creeper Rice Krispy Treats:

First, I unwrapped the Rice Crispy Sheet and used the 3 inch metal square cookie cutter to cut out all the of squares.

I then rolled out very thin layers of the green and black fondant.  I used the 3″ square cookie cutter to cut out the green squares and I used rectangle cookie cutter to cut out the creeper face in black.  (This is the exact rectange cutter I used)  Tip:  I used freezer paper underneath the rolled fondant so it would make it easier to pull up.

I spread a thin layer of butter cream frosting on six creeper faces at a time.  This acted like a glue for me to stick the green fondant to the rice krispy treat.  Next I stuck the creeper face black fondant on the green.  It turns out that fondant sticks really well to fondant and I didn’t need to add butter cream to stick the black creeper face on the treat.

I did notice I didn’t have a small enough cookie cutter for the eyes of the creeper so I ended up using a pizza cutter and guess at the measurements.  It turned out fine.  I probably could have done that with the rectangle creeper face but I’m glad I didn’t have to.  Putting together the mouth of the creeper face requires your rectangle measurements to be pretty exact so it looks right.

Here are a few photos of our process:
