Ingredients

  • 6 Twinkies
  • 16 oz of melting chocolate
  • 12 candy eye decorations
  • 6 Famous Chocolate Wafers
  • 3 orange Starburst
  • 1/8 cup of orange melting chips
  • 1/8 cup of red melting chips
  • 1/8 cup of yellow melting chips

Instructions

  • Place Twinkies in the freezer for at least 30 minutes.
  • Prepare a baking sheet or cutting board by covering with parchment or wax paper.
  • Take each of the colors of the melting chips and place into separate zippered sandwich bags.
  • Microwave each for 45 seconds and knead to insure that they are melted and smooth.
  • Clip a small corner of the bags and pipe stripes to resemble feathers on the chocolate wafers.
  • Place wafers on the prepared paper and put into the refrigerator for 10 minutes to set.
  • Cut each Starburst in half diagonally and mold to resemble a beak. Set aside.
  • Melt chocolate candy chips by microwaving 30 seconds then stirring and repeating until melted.
  • Take each frozen Twinkie and make two cuts: a 45 degree cut and a vertical cut (see picture).
  • Take the straight end cut piece and dip into the melted chocolate shaking off excess. Then place on prepared paper.
  • Take the middle piece and dip in chocolate shaking off excess and place on paper sandwiching the wafer between the two pieces at the vertical cut.
  • Dip remaining Twinkie piece in chocolate shaking off excess and place diagonal cut against other diagonal cut so that the "head" is oriented upwards.
  • Place the beak on the head.
  • Place 2 eyes above the beak.
  • Place turkeys in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to set.
  • Lift each Twinkie to separate from paper. Using a knife, carefully trim excess chocolate that ran off of the turkeys.
  • Take red chips in baggie and pipe a waddle on the beak and down the neck of each turkey.
  • Place in refrigerator for 10 minutes to set.
