Here’s the Secret to the Best Grilled Cheese Sandwich Ever!
I’m pretty sure I’ve tried every grilled cheese sandwich on the planet. I am a huge fan of cheese and bread in any form. But when I tell you that I have the secret to the best grilled sandwich ever, you can take that to the bank!
The ingredients for grilled cheese is pretty simple. You need bread and cheese but the process to put these ingredients together can be done in many, many ways.
Some people think the secret is how you butter the bread. It’s known that you can spread the bread with real butter or you can even use mayonnaise too. It all depends on the preference you like. I don’t see much of a difference other than you can spread the mayo a lot easier than you can cold butter. Speaking of spreads, have you heard of the restaurant located in Cincinnati, Ohio called Tom+Chee? I was lucky enough to visit during a conference a few years back and learned that I can make a similar grilled cheese sandwich by sprinkling a bit of powdered sugar on the spread before grilling it to give it a hint of sweetness. It’s an amazing sandwich but guess what? That’s still not the secret to the best grilled cheese sandwich ever.
Now some people will think the type of bread you choose makes the grilled cheese sandwich. While I agree the bread choice makes a huge impact on the outcome, I still don’t think that’s the main ingredient for the best grilled cheese sandwich ever. My preference is sourdough bread but I often use a wheat bread too. This all boils down to preference.
The secret to the best grilled sandwich ever is the cheese! You need a real cheese! I’m talking a 100% real cheese, not this processed stuff that you normally find in a slice form. Cheese makes the biggest difference in a grilled cheese sandwich! Cheese lovers like me will agree that Sargento® Sliced Cheese are always 100% real, natural cheese and are always the number one choice for the best grilled sandwich ever!
Can I just show you my favorite part of the sandwich? It’s when the cheese spills over on the grill and becomes a bit toasted! MY FAV!!! Look!
Did you know that Pasteurized Process Cheese Food (PPCF), sometimes known as American singles, is only required to contain 51% real cheese? It’s true. I highly encourage you to taste the difference for yourself. The next time you are at the grocery store, grab yourself a package (or two, or three) of Sargento® Slices and discover the difference for yourself. I promise, you will thank me later.
These sandwiches were devoured in under 5 minutes! They didn’t even wait for the tomato soup to finish cooking either. Now that’s a good sandwich!
